So we went to this "Parilla" which means grill or steak place with our Spanish School. The name of the place was "Pena y Colorado" very fitting for us right. Well we experience our first true meat in Argentina and here is the presentation. It just comes out on a little grill and they sit it right on your table. This is a parilla for two people. Holy shit is right. So you have all different cuts of the cow on here as well as grilled kidneys. There are two types of sausage and one is pink which is Charizo, and the other is black and that is coagulated blood. We tried all of them and not so sure I am a fan of Black sausage, the texture is just a little too weird. Yah and the Kidney's taste a little metallic. Happy Eating!

Night out on the town!

So Chris just arrived a few days ago and we decided to go out big. Just to give you a little time line background, the argentines usually don't go out for dinner until about 9:30 or 10:00 pm and then the bars don't even open till about 2am. Which puts you back at home around 7am. Yeah makes for a world of hurt the next day! But it's fun to come out of the club and it be daylight. Anyway this club out by the water is a popular one. Oh! Forgot to introduce the other lad in the photo on the right. This is our friend Rob from San Fransico. Ran in to him at school as well. Hey some of you might know his work from burning man, he did the big flower pot structure with all the glass shards in 06'. Hope your all havin fun!
Mar Del Plata

So we decided to get out of the city and see the BEACH! YES! Mar Del Plata is about 5 1/2 hours south of Buenos Aries and the bus we took was a very comfortable bus. This will be the first time that we see clean water. We got a private room with the sweeds that we met at our spanish school. It was good for a hostel and we had hot water which I guess some of them do not have. The first night we were there we were craving seafood, we thought this is a great place for seafood. Wrong, seafood is not very big here in Argentina. My spanish teacher has never eaten CRAB. Can you believe that poor child. Well we attemped to get some mussels and other stuff and it wasn't very good at all. So I think that Kent and I are going to bail on eating seafood this trip. We ended up finding a bar with good music, cheap beer, and "Super Ponchos" (hotdogs). Marit and Klaus taught us a card game from Sweeden and we played cards at a bar until about 2:30am. The next day we layed on the beach as I soaked up the sun and Kent remained white. =0) We ended up renting surf boards and I took a lesson in Spanish and Kent just snagged the board when I was done. Yeah the water was a little cold. Nothing you couldn't handle with a wetsuit though. Oh yeah our surf instructor made us do some funny yoga excercises to get warmed up. I know Kent was very amussed watching that. Other than that we just drank wine, ate steak, and layed on the beach. I know what a hard life. Oh so we found out that an argentine on a average will eat 1.5 kg of meat in one sitting. That's crazy, but they think it's crazy that we have all the other sides and stuff.

Moving from bleak to chic
So for the first month we lived in a place that at first seemed like some walls and a bed. It worked and it had Internet. So we started looking for another place that we liked better and that would meet our needs for the remainder 4 months of our trip in Bs. As. Note to anyone traveling here it is difficult to find rentals for the month of December through the 1st of January due to the holidays. I guess many people like to come to the city to celebrate! So the city is just like any other city. It is huge and crowded. (hint to self not sure if I am so down with gigantic cities) So anyway we finally found a place to rent and it was directly through the landlord, which is great because you don't have to pay all the fees and you can bargain a bit more. Well Kent talk him down from 1100 US dollars to 900 US. So he is feeling pretty good about himself, so am I. Well the place is great it is a two bedroom so anyone who wants to come and stay we would love to have you. It also has a huge kitchen for the city, which is awesome for how much we like to cook. Also what we have been finding is that it is difficult to find a good variety in food here. It is mostly Pizza, empanadas and Italian. So Kent and I like to cook every so often to give our taste buds a break from the tomato, basil, mozzarella. Oh another odd thing about this country is that you must pay your rent all up front and it is very much liked if the money is in US dollars. So Kent and I saw at the atm that they offered US dollars as a choice, so we go and try to get it. Well turns out that they only give out US dollars to Argentine's because they don't want it to leave the country. So we had to withdraw 11,000 pesos from the atm throughout 1 week. It was crazy but it worked. I think the landlord was a little disappointed when we told him we could not get the US dollars. So anyway we are now in our Home Sweet Home for the next 4 months.
